HKSEC was founded in January 2012 and this site wishes to attract teachers and pupils from both Hong Kong and Scotland who may be interested in developing contacts between the two education systems.

HKSEC aims to create a model of connection that will facilitate academic, cultural and sporting links between Scottish and Hong Kong schools. Our proposal is to develop the following:

• • Opportunities for staff and pupils to take part in exchanges between Hong Kong and Scottish schools.
• • Pupils to be hosted by families in Scotland and Hong Kong in order to experience cultural diversity.
• • Staff and pupils to experience learning and teaching styles in both education systems.
• • Establishing links with business and industry which will give pupils the opportunity to see the application of maths and science in the workplace.
• •Opportunities for staff and pupils to participate in sporting events.

These proposals hope to enhance and facilitate educational experiences for staff and pupils in the state and independent sectors. This connection also hopes to exemplify the links between educational developments in Hong Kong and Scotland, approved by Donald Tsang, the CEO of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and by Michael Russell, the Education Secretary of the Scottish Government.
