Program Objectives

After you complete the course, you will be able to:

  • Play an active role in discussions about specific topics
  • Apply reading skills such as skimming and scanning to locate synonyms and specific information accurately in a given passage
  • Use appropriate vocabulary to make comparisons
  • Talk about familiar topics, e.g. everyday situations or personal experience
  • Predict the listening content and complete the gap filling exercises by following the given instructions
  • Distinguish between different types of writing and target audience through studying relevant references
  • Organize and convey your ideas in response to particular topics
  • Use a wide range of vocabulary to describe current and future situations

Identify the key points and meanings from the given documents and reproduce them in other contexts

  • Locate specific information in the given text
  • Categorize different points of views according to their advantages and disadvantages
  • Identify the topic sentences, supporting statements and references in a given passage
